Flash Catalyst Beta 1 demo in 4 minutes

Posted on 31 May 2009 by Mark Szulc

Showing is better than telling and I’ve put together a quick recording of Adobe Flash Catalyst in action. In four minutes you will see an Adobe Illustrator CS4 file turned into a Flash application reading for import into the new Flash Builder 4.

Another version of this demo with automated zoom is available here.

Great video Mark – can’t wait to have a play with it.

BTW I noticed you said you can import it into “Flex Builder” – I assume you meant “Flash Builder” and that it is not backwards compatible with Flex Builder 3?

I said Flex Builder for two reasons.. Firstly (and the most honest answer) is that i’m still learning to say Flash Builder, and secondly, I want to make sure that Flex developers know that it’s the same tool, just a new version with features and a new name.

You are correct in thinking that you will need Flash Builder to work together with Catalyst, however Flash Builder will allow you to open and continue to work on existing Flex 3 projects.
